Barriers & Enablers to HFI Final Review and recommendations
Abstract
This report is a summary of outputs from a number of activities undertaken under Work Package 3.1 of the Human Factors Integration Defence Technology Centre. Work Package 3.1 is concerned with the identification of barriers to the existing HFI process, and corresponding enablers that will help improve the process of HFI and those factors critical to its application and success
The activities that took place under WP 3.1 (and in particular, 3.1.1, 3.1.2 and 3.1.3) involved stakeholders from within MoD, from various IPTs and from civil organisations that have distinct HFI programmes. This wide investigation of approaches to HFI was intended to provide insight into ways in which both the civil and defence-based industries could complement each other in their methods of conducting HFI. The activities included a thorough review of all MoD guidance literature and externally published papers, a series of interviews with MoD Integrated Project Team (IPT) personnel and the staging of two workshops.
