Robert joined British MBDA in August 1983, with a BSc in Mathematics from Cardiff University and subsequently a Diploma in Systems Engineering.

Robert started as a Systems Engineer, working in Simulation and Modelling, on the Sea Wolf programme. This gave Robert a real insight into how a weapon system actually works. Part of this role involved the writing of Trials Requirements and attendance at the trials on board HMS Brave.

Robert moved to New Projects in 1987 and remained in that area until 2007. Robert was involved in many interesting studies, including the concept study for LAMS (which later became Sea Viper).

In 1991 Robert was responsible for all human modelling within the Human Factors group. This involved the programming of demonstration equipment for user testing.

Robert was Chief Systems Engineer from 2001 to 2004 on the highly successful Soft Vertical Launch demonstrator programme and for the next 3 years he ran the MBDA element of an Anglo-US countermeasures programme.

Robert was appointed UK team lead for the Human Factors in 2007 group and in 2009 was given the role of Head of Human Factors across the whole of MBDA.
