Dr. Carol Ann Mason BSc (Hons), MSc, MergS, C.Psychol, Eur.Erg.
Dr Carol Mason is currently the new Human Factors
Group Leader for MBDA in Filton, Bristol. The group
has the responsibility of carrying out human factors
investigations for future missile systems.
Carol
started her career in human factors with British
Aerospace 18 years ago and worked on projects in
the fields of space, nuclear and military. During
her time there she helped to organise conferences
for the Ergonomics Society and edited the Teleoperation
and Control International Symposium proceedings
in 1988.
Carol then moved on to the Department
of Employment where she was responsible for developing
the user requirements and interface design of DEMACS
the careers service YTS database, managing the
user support team and monitoring the research carried
out by the government in the careers service.
From here Carol moved on to the MOD where she worked
as a Senior Psychologist with the RAF working on
a number of projects mainly in the area of computer-based-training
and later became a specialist in desktop virtual
reality training software. Her interest in virtual
reality was further developed when she moved to
become a Senior Lecturer in Computing and Multimedia
at the University of Gloucestershire where she
recently obtained a PhD as a result of her research
into the design of active learning virtual environments.
