Education Requirements Analysis
This research is examining the nature of future military deployments and trends in the design of technology employed in military hardware with a view to investigating future generic training requirements for new equipment and deployment types. It is also analysing educational requirements to consider if they are likely to be met by provision of education from within the services, through selection criteria of people wishing to join or both. Delivering Optimal Training for Future Systems
This research, conducted on behalf of the HFI DTC under acceleration funding, forms part of a scoping study for the project entitled Optimal Training for Future Systems. The work examines the fate of training needs in the procurement process particularly at the detailed level during the evolution of user and system requirements documents and more widely in the life of a project. By interviewing stakeholders, a picture is formed of the current state of training procurement in terms of organisation and methodology, focussing on the core Training Needs Analysis process. After considering a number of trends which may produce a demand for faster change in training provision, the report makes a number of recommendations aimed, in part, at improving the agility of the process.
Training Decision Making
Decision making is central to all military operations both in terms of mission success and also the safety of personnel and equipment. The importance of training decision making in the military cannot be underestimated, whether it be for those undertaking the highest levels of command and control through to personnel on the ground engaged in combat and peacekeeping operations.

Literature Review on Skill Fade
Every day life is marred with the inability to recall useful and important information when desired. The enjoyment of games and sports are reduced when a player is annoyed because their performance is not as good as it was eight months ago, when they were playing four times a week. Was it just non-use that lead to the forgetting or was it poor training when the information was learnt? The following report reviews the findings from research looking at the causes and options for avoiding skill fade.
E-learning Selection Toolkit
The e-Learning Selection Toolkit is a spreadsheet-based toolkit designed to provide guidance on the suitability of e-Learning (in its broadest sense, from CBT to the use of integrated synthetic environments) as training solutions for a given defence application. It is designed to support those operating in training roles that have training expertise but not necessarily detailed experience of e-Learning, or related media delivery technologies.
